About Apex Shark Expeditions

Apex Shark Expeditions is owned and operated by Chris & Monique Fallows. Our highly specialised shark experience takes place at Seal Island which is located in False Bay, Cape Town, South Africa.Seal Island has become world renowned for being home to spectacular and intense natural hunting behaviour of The Great White Shark on Cape fur seals. Famous footage of these unique events has been captured on wildlife documentaries such as Planet Earth and the Air Jaws series, but by joining our shark experience you too will have a great opportunity of witnessing this behaviour first hand. Chris discovered the unique breaching behaviour at Seal Island in 1996. As such Chris & Monique and their team have expert knowledge on the area. As we specialise in small groups we are able to provide an intimate, personal and educational experience. For those with a greater interest in photography our team is very well trained in terms of making use of the best light conditions and boat positions. To capture an image of a Great white shark, either breaching or underwater is a great challenge and one that we hope to help you achieve. Although the surface viewing of natural predatory events is unparalleled guests are also able to cage dive on the same trip making this a great opportunity of seeing all aspects of the Great white shark. Our passion is for all wildlife and as False Bay is rich in a large variety of marine species we like to think of our trips as a “Marine Safari”. Seal Island is home to a 64,000 strong Cape Fur Seal colony. This is the largest island based colony in Africa and it is truly one of the highlights of the trip when we spend time observing the colony. A great variety of sea birds are also encountered. At certain times of the year we can encounter numerous whale species such as South Right Whales, Humpback whales and Brydes whales. Dolphin such as common, dusky and bottlenosed are also on occasion found. So, if you are visiting Cape Town as part of your African Experience Apex Shark Expeditions can provide a fantastic opportunity of spending time with one of the Ocean’s most formidable predators, The Great White Shark, at the world’s premier site for unsurpassed predatory behaviour with passionate guides. Chris & Monique are passionate about all wildlife and in the Great White Shark off season they spend their time traveling to other wildlife destinations. In our off season we look forward to sharing these experiences with you too. Visit www.apexpredators.com
